Rahul Dev from Tharparkar has become the first Hindu pilot to serve Pakistan Air force.

He has joined Pakistan Air Force as General Duty Pilot. His selection has cheered the Hindu community. Moreover, it has improved Pakistan’s image of being a religiously tolerant country.

Social media users hailed the selection of Rahul Dev- a minority citizen from Tharparkar in PAF. They congratulated him for achieving this unusual achievement. Belonging to an under-developed area, Rahul Dev broke through to get into PAF. It is noteworthy to mention that landing at a post of GDP ( General Duty Pilot) is a tough task.

Tharkarpar

Tharparkar is a district in Sindh province in Pakistan. The district is the largest in Sindh and has the largest Hindu population in Pakistan. But it has the lowest Human Development Index rating of all the districts in Sindh.

The desert is marred by poor infrastructure, healthcare, and education system. However, for the past few years, Tharparkar is ravaged by food and water scarcity. Braving all these challenges, Rahul Dev has set an example for many people like him.

However, the Mithi-headquarter of Tharparkar perfectly embodies religious harmony. Where Hindus and Muslims are coexisting peacefully since the creation of Pakistan.

All Pakistan Hindu Panchayat Secretary Ravi Dawani expressed happiness over Dev’s appointment. He said many members of the minority community are serving in the civil service as well as the army.

Members of the Hindu community are serving in respected professions of healthcare, law and order, and the judiciary.

Religious Harmony in Pakistan

Major Harcharan Singh is the first commissioned Sikh officer in the Pakistan Army. He was born in Nankana Sahib, Pakistan. Major Harcharan Singh had received overwhelming appreciation from across Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the selection of Rahul Dev, combined with other efforts to ensure a safe environment for minorities, will strengthen Pakistan’s image globally. For the past few months, Pakistan has ramped up efforts to rebuild its images. Significant steps like the opening of Kartarpur Corridor has sent a positive message globally.

Pakistan had promised the Sikh community of completing the project before the 550th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak. PM Khan said that instead of Wagah Border the Sikh community will be facilitated to travel Pakistan through Kartarpur Corridor this year, which is also the shortest route.

The Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur is one of the holiest sites in Sikhism. The temple is located around 4km (2.5 miles) from the border with India. Kartarpur Corridor will provide a visa-free passage between Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, Narowal, and Dera Baba Nanak shrine, Gurdaspur India.

Pakistan is also working on Sharda Temple Corridor in Azad Kashmir (AJK) for Hindu pilgrims.

Pakistan’s government has handed over a 200-year old temple to the country’s Hindu minority. It is part of the government campaign to restore and hand over 400 temples to the country’s Hindu minority. Located in the remote Zhob district of the southwestern Balochistan province, the temple was occupied in 1947.
