COVID-19 Pandemic has upended the lives of locals including frontline workers across the country. Pakistan’s largest online food delivery platform, foodpanda has initiated CSR activities in various cities with Faisalabad being one of them where the company provides free meals to frontline workers.
To highlight these initiatives among law enforcement, team members from foodpanda met the commissioner of Faisalabad, Ishrat Ali, on May 13th to discuss ways in which they’re assisting frontline workers.
Ishrat Ali was presented with detailed information regarding the measures taken by foodpanda to provide free meals to frontline workers dealing with coronavirus (COVID-19) cases. As part of the CSR activity, foodpanda has provided meals for Sehri and Iftari to doctors, paramedic staff in general hospitals, throughout Ramadan.
Ali appreciated the CSR activities and further requested foodpanda’s team members to provide him with a set of recommendations for daily essentials to be delivered at home, aiming to get in talks with the chief minister and other relevant forums.
As a part of the meeting, Additional Commissioner Mehboob Ahmed suggested food deliveries to COVID-19 patients at Government Quarantine Centres where food is currently being provided by the government.
Ever since the pandemic has entered Pakistan, foodpanda has incorporated multiple CSR activities to provide free meals to frontline workers nationwide. Disinfectant walk-through gates have been installed outside hospitals in major cities to help fight COVID-19, along with mobile washbasins.
To assist the number of donations, foodpanda has also joined hands with Awaaz, a crowdfunding app, to increase the volume of donations across the cities.
The food delivery platform has collaborated with various NGOs including Saylani Welfare Trust, JDC, Food Saver, Al-Khidmat Foundation, and United Nations Associations of Pakistan (UNAP) and hospitals like Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, Indus Hospital, to financially support daily-wagers across the country as they provide monetary support to the NGOs, aiding them to support daily wagers.
The registered NGOs and hospitals will fall under restaurants on the foodpanda app with a dedicated swimlane to raise funds for these respective organizations. On adding the amount for donation, foodpanda customers will be given the choice to either make an online donation through the app or personally hand over the money to the foodpanda hero at their doorstep.
During times like these, the food delivery platform has incorporated multiple steps to ensure the wellbeing of locals affected, through their CSR activities.
foodpanda aims to work seamlessly to help the frontliners in all means possible while encouraging everyone to stay within the barriers of social distancing as they cater to their customers with strategic ways of deliveries and give back to the community, hoping for a better tomorrow.
